Free Coffee Fridays at Burger King

Seattle's Best at Burger King
The Burger King in my neighborhood has been brewing Seattle’s Best coffee for several weeks with little fanfare. I like Seattle’s Best in general and it’s not easy to find outside of Border’s bookstores, where they are the standard Border’s Cafe company. But in the month of November, Burger King is definitely making it known that they are now partnered with Seattle’s Best by offering Free Coffee Fridays all month long. On Fridays, during breakfast hours (before 10:30 or 11, depending on the store) you can get a free small coffee without any other purchase. Drive through, walk in – however you go, it’s a nice treat to get this morning pick-me-up for free!

Which Starbucks Stereotype Are You?

Starbucks Stereotypes

When you work in food service of any kind – bartender, server, barista, host, cook, etc. – you tend to stereotype. It’s faster that way. While generalizations might not work from restaurant to restaurant, a server can become pretty accurate when they apply those stereotypes to the customers at their store. This can obviously be a good thing or a bad thing. It can also be a funny thing. One Starbucks barista came up with a list of stereotypes (click above to enlarge) of Starbucks customers based on her experiences. You may find yourself on it, you may not… but if you spend enough time in coffee shops you may notice that some of these happen more than you’d think!

Cup of Coffee in Granada

Big cup of coffee
After an unintentional hiatus from Brewed Daily, I want to get back in the swing of things. I’ll do it gradually and I’m sure I’ll be up to speed in no time. It’s like having that first cup of coffee in the morning after a long night. Sometimes it takes a while to kick in, and other times you just have to wait until the second cup.

This particular cup of coffee was shot at my hotel in Granada, during my recent trip to Spain. If I recall, I actually missed coffee for a couple of days in favor of hot chocolate with churros. They were delicious, but so was that first cup of coffee after the break!

Greenwell Estate Kona Coffee, reviewed

Greenwell Kona Private Reserve

One of the most memorable coffee experiences I’ve had was going out to visit the Greenwell Plantation on the big island of Hawaii. Not only did I get to taste coffee cherries right off the tree, but I got to taste some of my favorite Kona coffee in one of the freshest batches you can get. I got this batch of Greenwell Estate Private Reserve Kona Coffee from Sea Island and I have to say that they make very quick work of the shipping and – aside from the lovely Hawaiian weather – you’re not missing anything by making the coffee at home and not traveling out to the plantation.

The Greenwell Estate coffee is earthy, sweet and tangy. It is really rich tasting and full bodied, and actually reminds me a lot of red wine, although probably better. I’d make this a daily brew if only I could pick it up at my local store, instead of having to have it shipped!

For other fans of Kona coffee, I previously bought green beans from Greenwell Estate and roasted them at home with good results. A fun project if you have the time and outdoor space!

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf holiday special

coffee bean gift cardsFor those of you who live near a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf location, you might want to head out to take advantage of a special holiday offer. When you buy a $25 gift card, you get the drink of your choice FREE. Some of my favorite drinks there cost about $4 each to begin with, so this isn’t a bad deal at all. It’s like getting a $30 card for only $25! Give the gift cards away as holiday gifts or just keep them in your wallet and use them the next time you visit the coffee shop for a holiday drink.
