The beach in Santa Monica is one of the best places to spend a summer evening, with all kinds of shops and restaurants to choose from and a steady crowd of locals and tourists enjoying the cool sea air. It is even better if you’re there for a party and I was fortunate enough to be down at the beach the other day for Starbucks’ Frappuccino Summer Lounge Party to celebrate the launch of their new summer drink, the Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino.
The party was a chance to try the drink and learn some fun facts about frappuccinos – such as the fact that there are some 36,000 different ingredient combinations that you could potentially put together to customize your frappuccino! Aside from occasionally getting soy milk instead of regular for a change of pace, I tend to keep frappuccinos simple when I order then and was surprised that there were so many possibilities.
If you’re wondering, promotional events for rich, caramel-laced drinks are very low key affairs. People tend to chat, sip their drinks and savor the summer weather as they do. With this group, there were also quite a few people clammoring for more of the caramel crunch topping that the frappuccinos are garnished with. I know that I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a bottle or two of it to top off some of my homemade brownies.
In addition to the drinks – and me showing off my #sipface (the summer drink Starbucks hashtag) for the camera – there was also plenty of food at the event. The hotel had put out some terrific mini sliders and some delicious flatbreads that reminded me of the options they have on the Starbucks Evenings snack menu.
All in all, it was a beautiful evening to celebrate a delicious drink. No complaints from me – although I really would like some of the caramel crunch topping to take home!
